By improving access to the workforce for jobseekers with high barriers to the workforce we will create a stronger economy and healthier communities.
The Fair Chance Institute
The Fair Chance Institute is committed to creating an economy where people with the highest barriers to the workforce have better access to high-quality employment. To realize this vision, we are leading programming and partnerships to ensure that:
-
Employers are motivated and well-prepared to successfully recruit, hire, and retain with barriers to employment
-
Hiring managers have access to vetted tools and research to engage and support a broader range of candidates
-
Jobseekers experience reduced barriers to entry and are able to obtain and maintain employment.
Our Priorities
Background Screening
Reform
We are collaborating with researchers and industry leaders to reimagine the background screening process and reduce the number of jobseekers flagged for convictions by filtering for job relevance and time since conviction.
Employer-Led
Ecosystems
We are partnering with regional and national business associations across the U.S. to engage the employer community to provide guidance on recruiting, hiring, and retaining jobseekers with high barriers to the workforce.
Advisory Group
We are convening leaders across sectors and industries to assess opportunities to build new standards and practices to encourage employment and mobility for jobseekers with high barriers to the workforce.
